Pattern Notes:

  • Difficulty Level: intermediate
  • Sizing in pattern will be listed as 12/18m, 1/2 (3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10) 11/13 {XS, S, M, L} XL. When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes. You may circle all numbers pertaining to your size before beginning.
    Fits chest circumference: 18, 20 (22, 24, 26, 28) 29 {30, 32, 34, 38} 42 inches with 0 – 1 inches positive ease. Pictured size 3/4 on a 3 year old.
  • Nelly Tank is work from top down.
  • German short rows (for shaping shoulders):
    Knit the number of stitches as stated in the pattern, turn work, bring yarn to front, slip the first stitch as if to purl, bring yarn over the needle to the back of your work and pull tight (this creates the double stitch = DS).
    Resolving double stitches: When working over double stitches treat them as a single stitch by knitting through both legs of the DS (KDS) or purling through both legs of the DS (PDS) as stated in the pattern.
  • Double I-cord selvedge (for armhole edge):
    Row 1 (RS): sl 1 wyib, K 1; work in any given stitch pattern to last 2 sts; sl 1 wyib, P 1.
    Row 2 (WS): sl 1 wyib, P 1; work in any given stitch pattern to last 2 sts; sl 1 wyif, P 1.
  • Chain stitch edge (for neckline edge and lower band edge):
    Sl 1 wyif, work in any given stitches pattern to last st, knit through back loop (Kbl).

Rep Round 1 – Round 4 (keep working center front cable pattern, the cable pattern is continuous with front neckline cable pattern) until body measures from underarm approx.: 5, 6 (7, 8, 9.5, 10.5) 11.5 {13, 15.5, 17, 18} 19.5 inches, or to your desired length.Ending with Round 4 work last.

Center Front cable pattern: (9 sts panel with 8 rounds repeat)
Round 1: C4F, P 1, C4B

Join Fronts

Clarify Join Back to Front

With RS facing, Patt Front sts to end (p the first and last st of row), PM, cast on 5 sts (back loop method), Patt Back to end (p the first and last st of row), PBM (place beginning of round marker), cast on 5 sts (back loop method).
